A farm girl in the Prairies

Life has changed a lot in the last few weeks. I have been in Canada for almost one month now. Things are moving quite slowly, and yet a lot has happened in the last couple of months. I am trying to take it one day at a time as we decide on our next steps and settle down in the True North.

One of the reasons why I have been negative about returning to Canada is because even though I am already a ‘Permanent Resident’, there is often something going on that makes me feel like I am living in limbo. Whether it is applying for a driver’s license or a health card, or a simple visit to the bank, everything is more complicated and it takes a lot of patience to start from scratch. But I think it also hast to do with not having our own place yet, we still have to decide on a city to live in!

There are many good things about living here, though. It is definitely nice to have M’s family around and also I am much closer to my family now which means we can visit each other a lot more often. We are back to being a family of 3 since I brought our puppy to Canada with me and he is so much fun to be around. We can finally plan ahead for things that are important to us. We just got our first car! And now we are going on a road trip to the Canadian Prairies, we’ll visit some friends and hopefully decide on a place to live.

Also, did I mention we have been living on M’s parents’ farm and I am surrounded by adorable baby animals and sometimes I even get to bottle feed little calves? Filiberto agrees with me that farming is lovely. Here he is after helping us check for new babies:
